Swine Flu

Summary: The Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention is issuing a high priority health advisory to all Maine health care providers regarding Swine Influenza Screening and Laboratory Testing Guidelines. No cases of swine flu have been reported in Maine or New England. Although seasonal influenza continues to be detected in Maine, influenza activity has been declining and is currently sporadic. Maine CDC health officials have been in close contact with officials at U.S. CDC the past few days as well as increasing capacity to further address the situation, including increasing influenza tracking and public health laboratory capacity (Maine CDC's Health and Environmental Testing Laboratory=HETL) to perform rapid typing of influenza. To download a Microsoft Word or Adobe PDF version of the screening and testing guidelines from the Maine CDC website please click on the second hyperlink at the bottom of this message or visit the CDC website at: www.mainepublichealth.gov. Please contact the MaineHAN help desk at: HAN@maine.gov if you have trouble accessing the document. Thank you!
