CERF is the Canine Eye Registration Foundation. A veterinary eye doctor examines the dog's eyes and checks for problems. Many of these problems are heritable. I use a CERF evaluation on all of my breeding dogs and prospects. It's also a good idea for older dogs to see if they are developing cateracts or anything else that would cause blindness.
