Good news for Diva -- PennHIP

When Jenny's hips came back unspectacular and asymmetrical, I had an Uh-oh moment.  You see, Jenny is the third dog in the litter to be screened and Diva's was only half done.  The veterinarian who did it originally cavitated the hip (like cracking a knuckle) so only half the score was done.  I had it done a great distance from home as a way to put some revenue into the pocket of a veterinarian who did me a huge favor.  I'm sure she'd have repeated the x-rays for me, but I wasn't driving ten hours each way to get it done right.

We'd planned to re-do Diva's PennHIP prior to breeding, but with a very good sister and a .30 on the one hip that could be scored, I was feeling like it was a formality.  What if the other hip wasn't anything like the one that was?

So we dragged Diva into the office yesterday and Dr. Temm shot new pictures to send to PennHIP.  Before they shipped out, he made some digital photos for me so I could put it here on the blog.

I will put it in a separate post as it will likely be one of those things that gets a million hits.

Even without getting the official results, Diva's hips appear to be very good.  The sockets are deep and the hips fit into them very well.  It's hard to see much difference between the compressed and the distracted x-rays.  I'm pretty confident the other hip will show up even better than the first, so it's a load off my mind.
