Camero Broken Jaw

Camero somehow managed a broken jaw.  I think it was when we transported the litter for dews and docks.  I put them in a laundry basket and Dove came along for the ride.  She got into the basket a couple of times.

I noticed yesterday that he was thiner than the rest and couldn't seem to get a good lock on the nipple.  I felt something odd when I tried to help.  Amanda confirmed the broken jaw.

"As your wife, I will support your decision," she began.  "A broken jaw, believe it or not, is among the better breaks for a dog to have.  If you hand feed him for a few weeks, we may be able to surgically repair it, or it might heal on it's own."

So he doesn't have to get the needle?

"If you are willing to do some work, there's an excellent chance of recovery."

So I'm up every two hours for hand feeding, then coaxing the excrement out.  Amanda was not surprised when I produced the Esblac (puppy formula) from my kit of puppy whelping supplies.  It's one of those things you can't exactly wait for UPS to deliver when you need it.  It's better to have and not need than need and not have.

Camero sleeps in the house at night and out with the group in the day.  That's the plan right now, anyway.  Dove is probably much better at the whole licking of the bottom than I am at imitating it with a warm towel.  I continue feeding around the clock.

My head is swimming with "What if's" and the answer to all is "We'll cross that bridge if we reach it."  Each bridge will be a blessing.
