Introducing Sandwynn's StormTreasure

As we mentioned a few weeks ago, since Amanda in not sane, she decided to add another corgi to the household.  A beautiful red and white female corgi came home to us on November 16th from Sandwynn's Kennel, www.ellisdogtraining,com , a longtime breeder of some excellent dogs.  Her official name is Sandwynn's StormTreasure, call name is Iris.  She's proven herself to be adorable, and so far, fairly smart.  Poppy is in heaven with a dog close to her own size to play with.

In the spring, she'll show in regular AKC conformation classes before starting a career in agility.

She's 11 weeks old

And adores her man

That's cute! Excuse my ignorance please, but would you explain what working Corgi's do? I've only seen the couch potato / leash pet version. When I finally get a barn I will be looking for a canine mouser as I am so allergic to most cats. Do you know anything about that sort of dog?

Working corgis are herding dogs.  Their low stature helps prevent being kicked and they are very popular around horse barns.  We keep ours busy with agility work.  Killing rodents was the chore of terriers, and they are still doing tests and trials for it.  They call them "go to ground" trials and if I needed a dog for mousing, I'd probably look for a kennel that had several generations of dogs proved in these tests.
