Porcupine 1, Colt 0
So I was already tucked into bed on Sunday night when Todd called for me to come into the dining room. He'd let Colt, Dove, and Brutus stay outside while he finished up with checking on the sump pump. I threw on a robe and sauntered into the dining room only to discover Colt with a face full of quills. Apparently the flowers aren't the only things stirring with the warmer weather.
We tried to pull a few of them awake, but not only were the quill in his muzzle, they were in his mouth as well. And when he shook his head, Todd and I would get poked by the quills as well. I figured out a sedative dose using what I had on hand. Colt is sensitive to meds and was quickly heavily sedated, but not fully out. With Todd positioning him, I was able to remove all of the quills in about ten minutes. By the next morning, Colt was still wobbly but fully responsive. Monday night he was himself.
