More Deadly Dog Food

Another dog food recall.  Now the folks from Diamond will have some company in their special room in Hell.

I'll get some links up today, so this post will be repeatedly edited.  Check back often.

IF YOU FEED MOIST DOG OR CAT FOOD OF ANY BRAND (Cans and Pouches) STOP NOW.

This is not likely to effect as many hunting dogs as the Diamond Dog Food did, but I've used this type of food mixed with dry to entice dogs who aren't eating well.  Think on that one.  Maybe your dog is old or sick and not eating.  You mix some canned food with the dry to get him to eat.  Now you have two problems.  Every time I have been in serious trouble with a dog, health wise, it was because I had two problems at the same time.  Sammy died of poisoning when I thought she was in pain from a broken toe.

This is the result of a "new ingredient" (wheat gluten) and it causes renal (kidney) failure.

I know I have a lot of "lefty" friends and even family, but I wonder if a little testing of this new ingredient on animals would have saved the lives of pets.  I know, how can you suggest possibly killing a couple of dogs and cats that nobody loves in order to save dozens of family pets?  It's not fair!  Well tell that to the families who poisoned their pets by feeding this "luxury" type of food.

They are also looking into the possibility contamination, or they types and balance of vitamins added.

In reading this stuff over and seeing all the brands affected, it further reinforces my belief that most dog food is essentially the same.  The same subcontractor made food for Iams/Eukanuba, Purina, Nutro, and Wal-Mart and Kroger (and a lot more).  I'm not saying that the food that Wal-Mart sells for $10 for 50 pounds is the same as what I feed.  Just that one factory might make both kinds.  Just like Sam Adams Beer is made at the factory that makes the absolute worst beer in Cincinnati.

Leave it to Google Finance to have almost everything you'd want to know about the company:

OK, here's a good point, don't call your vet on this, use the internet.  Amanda's office phone was so tied up yesterday with food questions, they couldn't help folks who needed it or get information.  If you feed this stuff and your pet is sick, then call the vet.
