Update on Colt

Just a quick follow up on Colt.  Dr. Amanda performed a few procedures on Colt a while back.  She took off two lumps and a wart and cleaned his teeth (for the first time).

The lumps were sent in for analysis, which confirmed her strong opinion that they were a benign cyst and a benign fatty tumor.  All is well with Colt, except he’s getting old.

The little jerk got after his stitches pretty good, unfortunately.  It took a while to figure out he was scratching them with his hind foot.  (How does he reach?)  Once that was worked out we put him in a shirt that made him look like Larry the Cable Guy.  Anyway, he’ll be 100% healed up in time for bird camp and is thankfully cancer free.

He is eight and really starting to look like an old man.  Winnie is only a few months younger, but still looks great.  Colt wants to run, and can run, but he over-does it all the time and winds up limping for days.  Colt will hold the revered place while bird hunting this fall.  Getting a short run first each day.

Winnie is in top shape and I intend to hunt her legs off this season.  Dove needs some muscle tone; she’s a bit flabby.  My fault.  Diva – well, it’s her first season.  She’s ready to hunt over, but she is not a finished dog.
